2009 see's a big change in the number of open competitions held along our stretch of coastline. For too long now, the dedicated North East match angler has had to travel the length and breadth of the country to fish open competitions that offer Penn points to the lucky few that manage to win the top prizes in these events. We have listened to the comments of both match and pleasure anglers alike, and after extensive talks with C.I.S.W.O.,Torquay tackle company AnyfishAnywhere, Southern based Ian Golds Tackle Developments, Daiwa Tackle, and Sea Angler Magazine, we are happy to announce that Seaham Sea Angling Club are now bringing the Penn points to you in the shape of five events scheduled to take place throughout the year, and all incorperating the coveted "Penn points".
We have managed to secure the backing of some of the biggest names in the tackle industry to ensure that the Seaham Open Shore Championships will be an even bigger and better event than last year. To prove their commitment to the area two of our sponsors, Julian Shambrook and Ian Golds have asked us to host events on their behalf, and we as an angling club are to hold three Saturday evening Badger Open competitions. We are hoping that the addition of these competitions will create a lot of interest from anglers wishing to experience the fishing in the North East, and we are hoping that with your help we can promote the area of coastline from Sunderland to Hartlepool and beyond. The five new open competitions have been registered with Sea Angler Magazine, and will be held on the following dates.
Sat 26th Sept - "Badger Open" 7pm-11pm.
Sat 10th Oct - "Badger Open" 7pm-11pm.
Sun18th Oct - "AnyfishAnywhere Open" - 11am-4pm.
Existing Penn points competitions for this year are:-
Sun Nov 15th - "Seaham Town Council Open" - 11am-4pm.
Sun Nov 29th - "42nd Seaham Open Shore Championships" - 11am-4pm
(This event may possibly prove to be the biggest open competition held this year)
